Community Support
ITC actively supports programs to build community awareness of MEMS, its special relationship to the photonics industry, and its broad potential to spur economic growth. Among the most valuable are programs that encourage developing the talent pool from an early age - conveying the excitement and power of interactive systems that are smaller than the width of a human hair.
Since 2004, ITC has co-sponsored its Summer Science Camp offering a variety of programs for kids from Grades 4-9. Based on popular themes, such as Harry Potter and C.S.I., students are exposed to topics in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Kids love this camp and so do their parents! Each year attendance has grown, and new offerings in space exploration and forensics have recently been added. Camps are held at area college campuses, with field trips to local businesses, including ITC. Click sidebar to learn more and enroll in 2009 programs.
For older students, ITC sponsors SEMI High Tech U, an industry driven math and science-based career exploration program for high school students and teachers developed by the SEMI foundation. (MEMS technology adapted many semi-conductor fabrication approaches for the special demands of micro-miniaturization.) Click sidebar for informational video developed by the SEMI foundation.
